Self Trading Post
Self Trading Post(STP) would be a great addition to guildwars, besides having people yel out,"want to buy this, meet me here". here is how it works, press the button, pick what you want to sell and how much to sel it for, then you sit down and letthe masses view what ya got.
This kind of thing is used in lineage 2, not sure about other games, works great!

I think the best selling engine has got to be Dark Ages of Camelot. You get your own NPC when you own a house. You place the item in the NPC's inventory and put in how much you want to sell it for and you get the money from the NPC in your vault when the item is bought. The NPC is 'always on' so you do not have to be logged in to get the sale. People looking for items simply search the bulletin board by putting in what they are looking for and the game automatically pulls all the items up displaying how much and from 'whose house' to go to pick it up from that NPC. This could be added for those that have a guild home. Dark Ages of Camelot's selling engine is just awsome. So.. check it out devs' ....

This really does sound like a great idea. I have seen it in a few other games including, but not limited to Everquest 2. Everquest 2's system isn't exactly like this, but I figured I'd mention it because it is a highly respected, well put together, and popular game. If this were to occur there would still be problems with the fact that there are multiple districts in a city. However, don't get me wrong, I would LOVE to have this feature.
Oh, and another great feature would be an auction system. I know it exists in World of Warcraft and Everquest Online Adventures abd EQOA: Frontiers. I hope to see both of these systems. It would really be great!

It maybe even better to link the NPCs for trade area with the armorers, weaponsmiths, and the areas where you go to have things made... then you do not have to go to a seperate place for all the trading and bulding of better weapons etc.
